Arrive at El Alto International Airport and transfer to Hotel El Museo, with the option for a short city tour
Drive to Copacabana, enjoying views of Lake Titicaca and Cordillera Real. Travel by boat to Isla del Sol and hike to Palla Khasa Hotel
Hike north to the archaeological site of Chincana crossing the entire length of the island, following a very scenic path with views of Lake Titicaca’s cobalt waters. Continue to the village of Challa Pampa, take the boat to Wakani where lunch is Apthapi, a typical andean lunch. Take the boat back to Yampupata where transport waits for you and will take you to Copacabana at 3,849 m, visit the church and the market before dinner. Optionally, hike 2 km to Calvary Hill for sunset.
Drive back to La Paz where we will have our lunch in a viewpoint enjoying a wonderful view of the metropolis and glaciated mountains. In the afternoon we will reach the city of Oruro city; after checking in the hotel, we can take a nice hike to a beautiful viewpoint.
Set off towards Uyuni Salt Flats, stopping at the iconic Jayu Kota crater for lunch. Enjoy views of Lake Poopó and visit the Alcaya archaeological site before heading to Jirira where we will stay for the next 4 nights in a local hostel.
Experience the best highlights at Uyuni salt flat like: “ojos de Sal”, Colchani village, and the Hotel of Flags. Take interesting pictures using the bizarre perspective at the immensity of the Salt Lake, hike on Incahuasi and Pescado islands and enjoy a picturesque lunch. At the end of the day, we will wait for the sunset before returning to Jirira for dinner.
Embark on a trek to the Tunupa Volcano viewpoint 4,639m. Enjoy panoramic views of Tunupa’s southeastern face—a perfect warm-up for upcoming treks
After an interesting drive with our 4WD vehicles, we will pass by Tawa village and ascend to the trailhead at 4,624 m, we will slowly ascend to the Tunupa rim. From this high viewpoint, you will have one of the most spectacular views of the Uyuni and Coipasa salt flats, the colorful caldera of Tunupa volcano and the endless number of volcanic cones all around you. After descending to Coquesa village at the shores of the Salt Lake, you can spot different kinds of flamingos.
Spend the day exploring the Valley of Geysers and its volcanic activity. Acclimatize hiking to Laguna Casiri and end the day with a relaxing dip in the thermal waters. From the valley you can see five of the highest mountains in Bolivia, including Sajama volcano that with its 6,542 m is the highest peak in the country. Gnarled Polylepsis trees and frugal Azorella cushions have adapted to the harsh living conditions.
Challenge yourself with an ascent of Acotango Volcano, the highest point of your journey. Our journey starts very early to drive to the trailhead at 5,402 m from where we will ascend in a valley that once used to be the crater of Acotango volcano. This easy climb offers unrivaled views of the mountain range and a rewarding summit experience.
Journey back to La Paz, visiting on the way the historic church of Curahuara de Carangas, known as the "Sistine Chapel of the Andes".

Even though there is constant political unrest in Bolivia, normally the situation is limited to road blocks and manifestations in the city. During our 30 years of experience, we always find ways to complete our itineraries or if needed, propose changes to overcome different situations.
Think about it as an adventure experience but nothing really dangerous to worry about.
The physical responses to the reduced oxygen levels, also known as hypoxia, are quite common. Many visitors experience shortness of breath, mild headaches, dizziness or lightheadedness. Fatigue can set in quickly as the body uses more energy to function. Some individuals may feel nausea, lose their appetite, or experience disturbed sleep.
These are typical signs of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), which usually resolves with rest, acclimatization, staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol and ascending gradually can help minimize these effects.
